LCH.Clearnet Volumes Increase 20% in 2005

London, 25 January 2006

LCH.Clearnet Group, the pan-European clearing house, today announced record volumes for 2005. Exchange-traded and over-the-counter transactions rose to 1.25 billion contracts, an increase of 20% on 2004 (1.042 billion contracts). Contracts cleared represented a notional value of €408 trillion (2004: €350 trillion).

Commenting on the growth in activity David Hardy, LCH.Clearnet Group Chief Executive, said, “These are pleasing performance figures. The increased volumes for 2005 have been delivered across the broadest range of central counterparty (CCP) services worldwide. It is a clear reflection of the value placed by market users upon the benefits delivered by the leading CCP in Europe, active across OTC markets and serving a wide range of exchanges and trading platforms.”
