Introduction
EDX London is a Recognised Investment Exchange, regulated by the United Kingdom’s Financial Services Authority. Created in 2003, it combines the strength and liquidity of the London Stock Exchange with the advanced derivatives technology of OMHEX.
EDX London appointed LCH.Clearnet to act as the designated clearing house for all trades executed on the EDX London Market. This appointment became effective in February 2004 when LCH.Clearnet replaced OMLX as the central counterparty to EDX
members’ open interest.
EDX London plans to build on the concept of Linked Exchanges, pioneered by OMHEX, to bring financial centres together and connect international investors to local liquidity pools around the world. With a single membership trading firms have access to multiple international markets through one consolidated order book. As well as increasing liquidity, Linked Exchanges make managing positions easier and reduce risk. They make international derivatives trading both simpler and more efficient.
Through the Linked Exchange concept, EDX London provides its members with the ability to trade Scandinavian derivatives listed by Stockholmsbörsen, Copenhagen Stock Exchange and Oslo Børs.
