| Service Circular No: | LCH EnClear No 222 |
| Date: | 11 June 2008 |
| To: | All LCH EnClear Clearing Members |
LCH.Clearnet would like to advise its Members of the changes required to the LIFFE PC Gateway package configuration files needed to access transaction data and reports on the NYMEX MTF and ECM markets cleared through LCH.Clearnet.
Prior to performing the instructions within this circular, members will require
Physical connectivity to the TRS/CPS system.
An existing installation of the PC Gateway Package with a logical connection to the TRS/CPS routing system.
Username and password to access the NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet market.
The market definition XML file for the NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet market.
Members may use their existing LIFFE CONNECT® infrastructure, leased line, or Internet VPN solution to access TRS/CPS. Members without such connectivity should contact their account manager at LCH.Clearnet.
Members without an existing PC Gateway installation should contact their LCH.Clearnet account manager to obtain the product. Once installed using the instructions provided, these instructions can be used to add the LCH.Clearnet market access.
The NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet market definition is available as an XML text file, which can be downloaded from:
ftp://biffex:vpnclient@ftp.liffe.com/outgoing/.
The file, “LCH Nymex.xml”, is located in the “PC Gateway TRAMP 8.3” folder.
Adding the NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet market to a PC Gateway installation needs to be performed in a strict sequence, as follows:
The application should be fully closed down
The configuration file should be located and edited.
The new data folders should be created and “reports.xml” copied to the top folder
The application should be started, and dynamic configuration files downloaded
Members will then be able to download data and reports, and adjust the configuration to meet their individual needs. In more detail:
1. Shutdown Application
Members should use the “Exit & Shutdown” File menu item. This ensures that all background services are closed down.
2. Edit Configuration File
The PC Gateway configuration file is called “PCGWConfig.xml” and is stored in “C:\Program Files\LIFFE\PC Gateway\Config” by default. It is important that members retain a copy of their existing configuration file before making the following changes.
Open the file using a text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad.
a. Exchange List
The NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet exchange, code “V” should be added to the list of available exchanges near the top of the configuration file. The list will now appear as:
<AvailableExchanges current="X">
<ExchangeCode>X</ExchangeCode>
<ExchangeCode>I</ExchangeCode>
<ExchangeCode>L</ExchangeCode>
<ExchangeCode>O</ExchangeCode>
<ExchangeCode>V</ExchangeCode>
</AvailableExchanges>
b. Exchange Definition
The file, “LCH Nymex.xml”, contains the full definition of the NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet market. The contents of this file should be pasted into the bottom of the existing configuration file – after the </Exchange> entry for the previous exchange, and before the </PCGWConfig> entry that indicates the end of the file.
c. Member Logon and File Location Details
The exchange definition xml contains member logon details. You should add your details where indicated:
<Exchange Enabled="True">
<ExchangeCode>V</ExchangeCode>
<Mnemonic>NMX</Mnemonic>
<ContractTrampVersion>8.3</ContractTrampVersion>
<Name Accelerator="V">LCH Nymex</Name>
<MenuName Accelerator="V">LCH Nymex</MenuName>
<WindowTitleName>LCH Nymex</WindowTitleName>
<!-- Configuration relating to member logon -->

<OriginatingMember>[mnemonic]</OriginatingMember>
<Password>[password]</Password></Member>
<FileLocations>
<Root>V\</Root>
<Data>V\DATA\</Data>
<CSV>V\DB\</CSV>
<Flag>V\FLAGS\</Flag>
<Reports>V\REPORTS\</Reports>
</FileLocations>
Members will need a username, password, and their member mnemonic. If you wish to change the location of data files, edit the section entitled FileLocations.
The configuration file should now be saved.
3. Create Data Folders
By default, PC Gateway will store data in “C:\Program Files\LIFFE\PC Gateway\V” and the subfolders Data, DB, Flags and Reports. Members should create this folder structure before starting the application.
You will also need to copy a single file, “reports.xml”, from an existing exchange folder, such as “C:\Program Files\LIFFE\PC Gateway\L”. This file should be placed in the main folder for the “V” exchange.
4. Start Application and Download Dynamic Configuration
The application services should be started, followed by PC Gateway.
The “NYMEX on LCH.Clearnet” market should now appear in the “Exchange” menu list. Select this exchange to continue the configuration.
From the “Reports” menu, select the following report downloads:
This will load the dynamic parameters required by the PC Gateway application to operate correctly.
Once these parameters have been loaded it is now possible to download live data, or customise the PC Gateway application using the “Setup” and “Reports” menu items.
