Business Operations is principally responsible for the delivery of the clearing and settlement aspects of LCH.Clearnet Limited services, including the maintenance of basic statistical data relating to those operations. The Industrial Placement is situated within the Operations function, which is required to provide an efficient clearing, processing and settlement service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic student who is studying a relevant degree such as Finance, Business Studies or Economics with an interest in the Financial Markets.
LCH.Clearnet Limited's Risk Management Department manages the risk LCH.Clearnet Limited faces in its clearing operations, both in terms of exchange-traded and OTC (Over-the-Counter) business. Its work is split between counterparty risk and market risk. The former involves analysis of the financial strength of LCH.Clearnet Limited's members and liaison with them. The latter involves the assessment of market risk using margining models, the routine monitoring of position and price movements, and the regular analysis of underlying contracts and economic conditions. The Risk Management Department are also strongly involved in the project work on clearing new products.
We are looking for an undergraduate who is studying a relevant degree - Finance, Economics, Business Studies or Maths and Statistics. The role would be to act as a Research Assistant, contributing to the regular monitoring and analysis work of the Risk Management Department. This will require working accurately and efficiently to tight deadlines and would suit an individual keen to build on their understanding of the finance sector as well as their mathematical and PC skills.
The IT Department within LCH.Clearnet Limited is responsible for the entire technology lifecycle within LCH.Clearnet Limited from the day-to-day running of the operation technology through to the initial investigations into technical developments of bespoke systems for use within the organisation.
The IT Department includes development, support and testing and students will have the opportunity to experience a number of aspects of the full project lifecycle of the IT systems. Our comprehensive approach to systems development and its management is based on the Unified Process and utilises UML in representing business, analysis/design and implementation models.

The Project Management Department are responsible for the successful delivery of projects. Specifically the team are responsible for ensuring that the projects produce the right products, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
